Lila Henley Simpson

Beaufort, SC Divorce and Family Law Attorney

Sometimes plans derail.  When your life changes direction, you may experience confusion and sadness.  You may even feel like you failed (you haven’t).  Those feelings are ok, but at some point you will probably want to grab your new life by the reigns and propel forward.

As your divorce and family law attorney, I will help you chart your new course. You will never be alone.

As a team, we will develop the best solutions for you and your family. You’ll be empowered to make informed decisions.

I understand family law matters involving children need to work for the long term. My focus is on helping you create parenting time schedules that are in your child’s best interest while reducing conflict.

My goal is to work diligently and creatively for you to reach a fair agreement, thus avoiding or minimizing court involvement.  If, however, we cannot reach an agreement with the other side, I will fiercely fight for your rights and the best interest of your child.

The Backstory.

I grew up in Morehead City, NC. A coastal town similar to Beaufort.  I’m a child of divorce, and understand first hand how emotional divorce and child custody can be. On the other hand, I was lucky to have a mom and grandparents who provided me a wonderful childhood.  My neighborhood was an extended family and summer days were spent enjoying the sandbars in Bogue Sound.

Following college I worked in broadcast journalism, then transitioned into marketing and printing.  As a small business owner, a highlight was overseeing and bringing the community together to collect and deliver several tons of food and supplies to residents of Eastern North Carolina following Hurricane Mathew.

Although I enjoyed helping business owners and non-profits grow their business, I sought a bigger challenge – one where I could help others on a more personal level.

After years of contemplating law school, I made the move and attended Charleston School of Law.  The Lowcountry of South Carolina has always been a special place as my grandmother was born and raised in Summerville, where my mom was born also. I am thrilled to finally call the South Carolina Lowcountry home.

Outside of law, I enjoy the salt air and marshes of Beaufort, being entertained by my loveable dogs – Clifford and Murff, and spending time with family.
